SEO = Top Rankings. More Traffic. Big ROI.
How Can Being Highly Ranked in the Search Engines Help your Business?
Online search engines, such as Google, present major opportunities to get new customers into your offline business. 40% of all searches are from
local people searching for restaurants, dentists, lawyers, contractors, etc. right in their own
city, but 90% of brick and mortar businesses are surprisingly behind in getting themselves
ranked in the search engines in their city, and often don’t realize how much business they’re
losing to their competitors. Getting to the first page of Google, especially, is the best
advertising your money can buy.
Of the 3 major search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing) Google is by far the largest, and the one
most often concentrated upon because Google alone can bring you more sales than that
expensive online Yellow Pages ad you may be paying for, and for less money. There are
approximately
The amount of time it will take to get your business ranked in Google is directly proportional to
the amount of competition your business has. For example, in a small city of 100,000 people,
there maybe 20 dentists, 15 attorneys, and 350 real estate agents. Thus, it will take much
more work and more time to get a Realtor ranked in Google than an attorney, since the
competition is so much greater. However, for any business, getting a high rank in Google is
well worth pursuing because Google will bring your business more traffic than any other
single source, and so getting highly ranked in Google is what is discussed on this page.
How is SEO Done?
There are many factors involved in ranking a website on Google. Here are the steps we take:
1. Do keyword research to find out what phrases people use to search for your type of business and choose
the 3 that will bring your business the most targeted customers.
2. Analyze your main competition to determine what it will take to outrank them (whatever they’ve done, we
will do more and better).
3. Optimize your website using the keywords discovered in Step 1 using a variety of techniques.
4. Buld links from other quality websites to your site; this is called backlinking. While every step is important,
you cannot rank in Google without other websites linking to yours, unless you have absolutely no competition.
Google looks for credibility when deciding how to rank websitese, and backlinks are like votes for your website.
The goal is to create more and better backlinks than your competitors have.
5. Google is putting a great deal of emphasis on Social Media, such as Facebook and YouTube. If your market
is competitive, we will recommend that you let us build your business a presence on both platforms, which can
also help your business get new leads. We provide our clients with online training for how to use Facebook to promote your business.
Think of SEO as a recipe for blueberry pie; all the ingredients are necessary to get the results you want, which is a great tasting blueberry pie. If you
leave out any of the ingredients, such as sugar and blueberries, you’re not going to get good results.
SEO pricing is based on how competitive your market is, because this will determine how much work will be involved in improving your ranking.
About Brand New Websites
New websites are very difficult to rank for the first 6 months. There have been so many fly by night businesses over the years that Google now waits
to see if your website is credible. It helps a great deal when you buy a domain name to pay for at least 3 years, and not get it one year at a time.
This shows Google you intend to be around for awhile. Nonetheless, you should still proceed with SEO so that when Google decides your site is
valid, your Google ranking will be higher than if you wait.
